The Ballard Alliance is bringing back its annual Movies in the Park series this August, with four free outdoor movie nights scheduled at Ballard Commons Park.
The weekly screenings will take place on Wednesdays in August at Ballard Commons Park (5701 22nd Ave. NW). Organizers say the movies will begin at 6 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low-profile beach chairs, food, and beverages to enjoy an evening in the park with neighbors.
The free, all-ages lineup includes:
- Aug. 5: Top Gun: Maverick
- Aug. 12: Galaxy Quest
- Aug. 19: The Lost Boys
- Aug. 26: Despicable Me, hosted by Sweet Mickey’s Candy Shop
The Ballard Alliance said the series is made possible with support from Seattle Parks and Recreation.
The screenings are part of Seattle Parks and Recreation’s broader Park Activation program, which supports free events and programming designed to encourage community use of public parks. Established in 2005, the program includes outdoor movies, concerts, fitness classes, cultural events, and other activities intended to foster community connections and activate public spaces. Seattle Parks also co-hosted the event last year, which brought three nights of movies to Ballard Commons Park in 2025.
Ballard Commons is one of 12 Seattle parks participating in this year’s citywide Movies in the Park program, which features 26 free outdoor movie nights throughout the summer.
After the August series concludes, Seattle Parks and Recreation will launch a citywide Hunger Games movie series in September. While the five-film event will rotate between parks across Seattle, two of the screenings will take place nearby, one at Gas Works Park and another at Woodland Park.
The September lineup includes:
- Sept. 2: The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes at Bill Wright Golf Course
- Sept. 9: The Hunger Games at Gas Works Park
- Sept. 16: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at Lincoln Park
- Sept. 23: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 at Woodland Park
- Sept. 30: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 at Magnuson Park
All movies are free and open to the public.
