A Special Night in Burgundy with Cyril Frechier!

November 17, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$12

Our favorite Frenchman (aside from Emile) back at our humble little wine store to host an extraordinary night full of wine to make your toes curl.

We’ll be dipping our toes into a region in France that has captured every wine lovers heart and soul. To me, Burgundy is the region that encompasses everything in wine. It’s the land that births the wine that touches you so deeply you can’t help but be moved by the power of it. It’s the place that makes wine so utterly beautiful, one can only compare it to works of art, and even then, you, I find our words unworthy. A land of a million terroirs, a kaleidoscope of brilliance, captured by two varietals and coveted by all aficionados. This is what we’ll be tasting Friday night, and we invite you all to join us.

Burgundy is first and foremost, a wine growing region that spans from Chablis, closer to Champagne than the rest of Burgundy, and almost touches the Northern Rhône, by the bustling city of Lyon (that is, if you include the region of Beaujolais). Two varietals reign supreme here: Chardonnay for the whites and Pinot Noir for the reds. The area has been steeped in winemaking so long, that the earliest records here date to around 312 AD. It is in the year 910 that the monasteries, under Charlemagne, cultivated and tracked the vine. The Cistercian monks were instrumental in recording the crus which make up Burgundy, as they had the time, manpower and means to record minute differences between plots of land.

I could go on and on about the history of Burgundy. To be fair, it is a landscape that is so intricate, you could spend a lifetime studying it and still discover more every day.

To really feel, and understand Burgundy, you must taste the wine. And that is what we’re going to do this upcoming Friday! Please join us, invite your friends and come with an open mind and palate. We are so thrilled to bring this tasting to you. Indeed it is an honor.
