Norwegian Constitution Day is the 17th of May, on Friday! Celebrate 130 Years of this important Norwegian Holiday in Seattle, celebrating the Constitution of Norway created in 1814, on the 17th of May. This day in Norway is known as Syttende May (Seventeenth of May) and the Ballard community has one of the largest Syttende Mai parades outside of Norway!

Since 2006, an event known as Syttende Gay was created and has evolved over the years into a big event every 17th of May, regardless of the weekday. This event was also created for all attending to feel festive and celebratory amongst diverse guest, no matter which part of the spectrum you are. We now are known as a “Spectrum Event” so that everyone can celebrate this ethnic holiday without feeling inferior. This event is created by Kwanchai Events, sponsored by Redmond Ridge Liquor & Wine, Stolthet Aquavit and Kwanchai Vodka.

This year we will take the time to also celebrate Alt For Norge (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alt_for_Norge) Many of the former Cast-mates have returned every year and joined our celebration for most of our run. This year, we dedicate a special anniversary of ten years the show has run on TV Norge. Many former contestants from all over the US are joining us for this epic year.

This year we will have Video Dj Andy, and our returning entertainer Haffi Haff! With our lovely local and former Alt For Norge Season 9 Contestant Julie Cascioppo with her special vocals. The 17th of May Parade is at 6 PM until 7:45 PM for your viewing, we will begin at 8 PM until 1 AM with lots of fun in store. $7 for general public (Covers Event Cost) 21 plus with a full bar.
