You’ve already explored many back-country trails around Seattle’s region, but maybe you are tired of fighting the crowds. There is so much more to explore off trail! Join guide Matt Houghton to learn the basics for off-trail travel. This is NOT a compass lesson. We’ll learn how to ‘read’ the landscape to pick out your own way, and how to read a topographic map to help you choose. Participant teams will be given your own maps and pencils to practice choosing cross-country routes.

We’ll also be hosting KAVU, Patagonia, and Ascent Outdoors for a pop up shop inside the beer hall!
