Local author Paula Becker discusses A House on Stilts

October 13, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join us to hear local author Paula Becker read from and discuss her new memoir, A House on Stilts, a personal account of a family grappling with America’s opioid crisis.

More than 2.5 million Americans are addicted to opioids, and their drug addiction can lead to lives of demoralization, homelessness, and constant peril. For parents like Paula, a child’s addiction upends family life, catapulting them onto a path no longer prescribed by Dr. Spock, but by Dante’s Inferno.

Paula Becker is also the author of Looking for Betty MacDonald: The Egg, the Plague, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, and I and co-author of The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World’s Fair and Its Legacy.

Presented in partnership with Secret Garden Books. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
