Midsommar is a community celebration of the summer solstice that is especially popular in Scandinavia. An ancient holiday rooted in paganism, it was originally celebrated as a fertility festival, comprising the practice of rituals associated with nature with the hope for a good harvest the following autumn.

Festivities vary by region and entail such customs as decorating and dancing around a Maypole, making flower wreaths to wear, lighting bonfires, and eating plentiful amounts of herring and other fish, accompanied by the drinking of beer and snaps and the singing of drinking songs.

Join Skål Beer Hall for our inaugural Midsommar Seattle celebration, and begin a new tradition of celebrating the summer solstice, Scandinavia-style! Our special Midsommar program will feature:
