Mixed Media Garden – Botanical Art Workshop
March 8 @ 5:00 pm - March 10 @ 8:00 pm
$180
Love painting flowers? In this 3 day class, you’ll learn to create realistic botanical artwork.
We’ll use watercolors, colored pencil, pens and other media to recreate your botanical subjects on paper. Botanical art is a practice in patience as it requires going slowly, creating many layers and taking the time to notice all of the small details in your specimen. Students are invited to bring their own specimens – flowers, leaves and fruits – or to use those collected by your instructor. At the end of three days, you will not only have a finished botanical garden piece — you will gain skills you need to continue creating mixed media masterpieces with botanicals!
This class takes place each day on Friday, March 8 to Monday, March 10 from 5-8 pm.
All materials are included. Class includes a set of watercolors selected for botanical work by Maxx – and also made by her! (Value $50) This class is recommended for students ages 16 and up.
Maxx Follis-Goodkind (she/her) has been fascinated by the plant world from a young age. When she was figuring out life after a corporate job layoff in 2009, she ended up choosing to follow that love by studying horticulture at Edmonds Community College. Having a technical education in plants led to even more of a love of drawing and painting plants. Maxx has been teaching botanical drawing and painting for the last 5 years and is a member of the ASBA. She combines her technical botany knowledge with her art skills to help others learn to paint and draw plants.
