Construction along 14th Ave NW

Northbound 14th Ave NW was closed today around 58th St for a road project.

Department of Transportation crews are digging up the median along the northbound lanes. We’re checking with SDOT to get details of the project.

Update: Noah reminds us in comments that this may be part of the 14th Ave NW beautification project that we wrote about in August. “Yes, you’re right,” says Dawn from the 14th Ave NW Steering Committee. “SDOT is installing natural irrigation curb extensions that will filter storm water through plants before it drains into the storm sewer that leads directly into Salmon Bay. They’re also building up the median so we can install an additional planting area, plus provide a pedestrian refuge in the center of the intersection to make crossing the street much safer.”
