Low voter turnout for primary elections; Mike O’Brien leads District 6 with 58% votes

Primary election results for the City of Seattle are in as of 8:15 p.m. August 4th. Leading our district by over half of total votes is Mike O’Brien.

O’Brien leads the Council District 6 election with 7,371 votes counted, 57.96% of all district votes. Catherine Weatbrook follows with 22.32% of votes at a tally of 2,839.

Jon Lisbin follows at 13.97% with 1,777 votes, while Stan Shaufler received 5.48% of votes at 697.

Of 67,591 registered voters, only 12,980 ballots have been counted thus far in the District 6 election, a 19.20% voter percentage.

We see similar low percentages across the board of all district elections– the lowest turnout is in the District 2 election (16.74%) and the highest in District 3 (24.03%). We expect last-minute voting to to bump these numbers a bit higher.
