On Tuesday, June 27 at 7pm, the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance will host the first “Pint-size Science” event at the Leary Traveler (4354 Leary Way NW).
There will be scientists on hand to talk about the evolution of pollution in the Puget Sound. “While our waterways are teeming with beauty, lurking under the surface are hotspots of contamination that scientists and regulators are working to remove,” the flyer reads. They’ll be speaking about the effects of wastewater treatment plants, stormwater drains, and runoff.
“Three fantastic presenters will take you through the early days of contamination to learning about emerging concerns. We’ll end with information on meaningful individual actions you can take to reduce your impact and protect our shared waterways for future generations.”
The three presenters include Dr. Tracy Collier from NOAA, Sandra O’Neill from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Dr. Andy James, from UW-Tacoma Center for Urban Waters.
