I was sad to see the 2nd Hand shop at the corner of 65th & 3rd (next to the violin shop) had its windows papered-up. I checked online and sure enough it’s listed as closed. I always liked browsing through that store, although I have to admit I rarely bought anything. Although, they did buy something from me once!

Yeah, I went there in early November, looked like all the good stuff was gone. Oh well the good news is Olsen Violins is moving in to take over the space. They’re really nice, helped me outfit my nephew a few years back with a nice violin and have always been super nice.

The owner who had All Aboard so many years retired and it was bought by the owner of Bambino’s coffee house. She changed the focus and was responsible for all the nifty mid-century stuff coming in, although I think she raised the prices also. Probably from necessity — they were pretty low before when the inventory was a total hodgepodge. I talked to her in the closing sale and she said it was just too hard having two different kinds of businesses going. I’m really pleased Olson’s is able to expand. I remember when he just had that dinky shop by the Goodwill.
