Just saw this low-profile announcement in the DPD land use bulletin:
NOTICE OF A CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED LAND USE CODE AMENDMENTS TO REORGANIZE THE DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
In part, the proposal is to “reorganize the Department of Planning and Development into two separate departments” !!!!

At the same October hearing, there will also be a discussion and public comment on further City property tax increases, and the Mayor’s proposed budget.

That’s interesting. The mayor created the office of Planning and Community Development in June to integrate strategic planning functions from across city departments into one single entity and provide a single point of entry for residents who have concerns. That seems like a sound policy. I wonder if there are really good reasons for splitting construction out or if this is just bureaucracy fighting back to maintain itself.
