Our night maintenance guy, who lives in Ballard and doesn’t drive, looking for nearby place to bring his bike. Any suggestions. Possibly his dad could drive him

Unless it is one of the electrical components, I go to BikeSport (next door to BevMo). Friendly bike knowledgeable staff, reasonable rates and located just a little bit off the BG/missing link so it’s easy for a bike rider to get to. http://ilovemybike.com

Second the suggestion for BikeSport, they used to be on 24th & 56th but moved recently as their old building to due to be torn down for more development (roll eyes)

Bike Sport is good; haven’t had a chance to check out the new digs by Bevmo yet.

Second Ascent at 5209 Ballard Ave NW takes care of my bike needs.

There’s also Dutch Bike, at 49th and Leary.

I’m a fan of Alpine Hut on 15th in Interbay.

Good reminders — 2nd Ascent is probably now the closest to central/western Ballard.
Both 2nd Ascent and Alpine Hut are good places.

There’s also the “JRA Bicycle Shop” at 8318 8th Ave. NW. (Corner of 84th) They often have a discount coupon in that monthly deals envelope that is mailed out. They saved me a bunch of money by just fixing the things that weren’t working rather than doing a full tune-up which is what I thought my bike needed when I walked in. They have received very good reviews.
    Check them out: http://www.jrabikeshop.com/
(Note, they are closed on Mondays.)

JRA for sure, or Second Ascent if that’s more convenient for ya.

gracie – what does he need? I am willing to do a lot of minor fixes for free, I often do many at the Ballard Farmers Market!
