Patxi’s Pizza closes, former manager looking to start a new Chicago deep dish pizza restaurant

After 10 years, Ballard’s Patxi’s Pizza has closed up shop, and the building is now for lease.

Patxi’s, a pizza restaurant franchise that has nine other locations in California and Hawaii, opened in 2014 at 5323 Ballard Ave.

Ballard franchise manager Tice Azure tells My Ballard that the owner wanted to close the location in July 2022, but offered Azure a management contract to take over the lease until it was up this year.

“That time came up, and renewing the lease didn’t make financial sense. We no longer needed the square footage of that location,” Azure said.

While he’s parting ways with the Patxi’s franchise, Azure is looking for a new location to start his own Chicago deep dish pizza restaurant. He also wants to expand to offer other Chicago staples, he said, including “tavern-style pizza” and Italian beef sandwiches.

“The staff is on board, and we hope to find a new location soon. We love the Ballard community; we will keep the new spot within driving distance, hopefully somewhere with better parking.”

Azure is looking for potential partners or investors; if you’re interested you can reach him at deepdishseattle@gmail.com.
