teigyr, Can you tell us how to look up the owner’s name based on the license plate?
There is a Chinook Helicopter Army Reserve unit at Paine Field in Everett. Those are twin rotor aircraft.
I agree with all the thoughts above! I wish they were open for Saturday dinner, but they deserve some time to themselves.
I have not bothered to verify this “fact”, but I was once told that the name of the city of Buffalo was actually a corruption of the French words “beau fleuve” or “beautiful river”. If so, the suit has no bearing.
great idea- I doubt the “generous neighbors” put the couch on “their” parking strip. More likely they dumped it right in the park where it now rests.
Take a look at the black sign-in bar at the top of the page. We all figured it out, but it does not draw the eye to it. I think a lot of people don’t know that is where to go to sign-in. A different color would help or possibly a larger font. That black bar coincided with the drop off in participation, so it is likely not a coincidence.11/19/2014 at 6:33 pm in reply to: Beating a dead horse (Property Crime, North Precinct) #76216
Chris, As I pointed out, the quote is inane and stupid. It would be so no matter who said it, be it you or Ronald Reagan.
Further, as I also pointed out, you raised the question of the source of the quote as being unacceptable, not me. If you are worried that people might not approve of your comments, why make them?
You should absolutely pay closer attention to what is said in meetings and to what is written. Perhaps then you and I can have a meaningful exchange.11/19/2014 at 5:09 pm in reply to: Beating a dead horse (Property Crime, North Precinct) #76184
Phoo, reread Chris’ post. Even he felt that quoting Reagan would elicit a response “in this neighborhood”.11/19/2014 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Beating a dead horse (Property Crime, North Precinct) #76137
It is difficult to believe Chris attended the same meeting I did. If he wants the readers to believe that the only advice from the police was “get a dog”, he is blatantly misrepresenting what took place.
The panel members were well prepared and presented themselves more than adequately. There was no prepared presentation but they did take the time to lucidly explain their jobs and provide appropriate statistics.
Phoo, nobody recommended getting a trained attack dog as you apparently assumed. Just the sound of a barking dog in the house is enough to dissuade most burglars. Dogs do not need to be trained to bark.
As far as what should citizens do, the police had many suggestions.
-Do not walk around in public talking on a cell phone.(invites theft)
-Know your neighbors. Then you will be able to recognize people who don’t live on your block.
-Always call 911, even for minor things.
-Do not leave valuables in your car.
-Always lock your doors. Apparently many burglars enter through unlocked doors.
-Get a secure, lockable, metal mail box, not a cheap plastic one.
-Join a neighborhood group of some kind.
I could go on but, finally, Chris, referencing an inane quote from Ronald Reagan? Seriously? It was a stupid comment when Reagan first said it. It does not deserve repetition.11/19/2014 at 10:00 am in reply to: Beating a dead horse (Property Crime, North Precinct) #76081
I was at the meeting yesterday at Loyal Heights Community Center. There was a man in the crowd who insisted on repeatedly interrupting the meeting by verbally attacking the City Attorney. Apparently the man thinks the City Attorney should upend the American justice system by outlawing bail for anyone who is arrested. At least that is what I got from his rude outbursts. Anyway, I almost applauded when this guy left the meeting early.
Here is some background.
Last January I stopped by Paseo after they reopened following their annual shut down. I asked the guy taking my order what he had done during the break. He said he had spent the time at the owner’s home in Key West, Florida. I suppose this information could be meaningless or it could roil the waters. If anybody wants to pay my way to Key West, I will selflessly go down there and get to the bottom of the situation!
Bean Dogger, Perhaps it is a bit soon to joke about bullets to the brain since yet one more victim of the Marysville Pilchuck shootings died last night. Actually, it will always be too soon, so please refrain from NRA inspired diatribes on this web site.
Very likely not Hueys as that model is no longer in service. Possibly Chinooks from Paine Field Reserve Base in Everett.
Try calling the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 783-2244. They are likely to have some sort of event that would be a good match for you.
While speaking of disgusting unhealthy food, I was in Gross Out today and they had a display of Vienna Sausages, six can for a quarter. I had not eaten a Vienna Sausage in almost 50 years, so I decided to spend a quarter and give them a try. Oh well, the dog has agreed to eat them.
BTW, Even if your dog does have a microchip, have the vet check it during a checkup. Apparently they sometimes quit working. (don’t know why)
