Well yes, we suspected the nickels shacks would be moving to Ballard.10/05/2015 at 8:43 am in reply to: One Way to Keep Dirty Homeless People Out of Ballard #82540
Bad idea and bad location. I doubt if this urban restroom will change anything, except it will attract more substance abusing transients looking for free stuff. Like the U-District you’ll find more bums flopping on the street making a mess. How many of the bums are from Ballard or Seattle? How many aren’t working because they’re mental cases or criminals?
Perhaps the petition link isn’t working :
The server is misbehaving.
You can try refreshing the page, and if you’re still having problems, just try again later. We’re doing our best to get things working smoothly!
Still, no good reason to encourage creepy bum zombies to move into Seattle or Ballard.
Sent a few photos to the city and asked them to come clean-up the trash piles at 11th and NW 45th. How long will it take?
The person profiled in story seems typical–a loser with no skills or goals looking for a free ride. I’d have to skim that story again, but didn’t it say Utah only had 2,000 transients statewide and Seattle/King Co has many thousands more? And who paid for their new Utah housing? Seattle taxpayers are already paying too much and I believe we’re 3rd place behind much larger cities. What’s our goal, to be the number one in bum services?
But who pays for the lovely homes? I don’t want to pay for the irresponsible flaky winos.
Yes VB, the trash near the Pavingstone company is spreading. I stopped and took a few photos and will send them to the mayor’s office. No humans were available to explain why the garbage is there. Ballard does not need any more transients ruining the neighborhood. Fewer bums per square mile is a better goal.
Haven’t read the story yet, but the current Seattle Weekly has a neat cover illustration on the un-housed situation.
The city should register, tax and license all bikes.
Campers, your reputation proceeds you. The city of Hoquiam is in the news today because they have a new tent camp. Since there’s no data and little accountability for such camps the community immediately formed a block watch group. You can hardly accuse people in Grays Harbor of being elitist paranoid yuppies.
Tressa Apartments, go to YELP and read the reviews.
Some people think Ballard has too many burnout drifters already and that problem needs to be cleaned-up first. Ballard doesn’t need a mini slum on Market St. Currently, Seattle is inundated with hobos looking for handouts, free food and they are trashing the community. We are spending 40 million a year on bum services while our public school teachers’ salaries fall behind.
No, the homeless individual needs to find a solution to their own situation. Government isn’t the answer to every problem. We spend too much time and money catering the various churchs’ scams.
The drunk bozos living under the piles of trash will continue to be there because they can’t conform enough to stay in an organized camp or work at a job.
If the tramp facility is established, you’ll never get rid of it. Write the Mayor’s office and protest this folly before it’s too late.
Why do the taxpayers have to foot the bill for the hobo comp? How is recruiting more white trash zombies going to improve Ballard? More car prowls? More fighting? More assaults and murders? It’s a total waste of effort and money. Dancing at the zombie zoo.
Doggie is back! Woof.
I sam sick of the hobos asking for money because they are too stupid and lazy to work. Getting high every day isn’t a good career move. When you’re trashing the community then your stupidity becomes our business.
A bum is bum and nothing more. Are these guys refugees from Yemen or Syria? No, they are only shuffling from a can of beer to the next beer. It is sad to see someone completely destroy a perfectly good body, but that is the truth.
If Vulcan wants to clean -up Pioneer Square, they should buy out the properties used by the missions and charities. Then the hobo tribe will have no reason to be bothering the sports fans and gallery vistors.
Too bad we can’t post pitures here because it’s easier than typing 1,000 words.
This morning, I was looking at the mess under the north end of the Ballard Bridge and a bum popped out, like a prairie dog, from under a heap of junk. It was pretty comical when he threw an orange at the neighboring pile of trash and then sunk back under his pile.
Who is going to clean-up the transient garbage?
Late isn’t it? The encampments are still a bad idea.
The encampments are a still bad idea. How did the tents survive in the wind today?
Polls are not always accurate are they? Some professional polls suggest Mr.Trump could be the next President.
Nickelsville on Dearborn St has tiny tool sheds for housing and some tents.
That is a popular and busy store.
