Just add a few shopping carts and you’ve got a Ballard hobo homestead.

Has anyone joined the next door web site? Is it more informative? Looks like the regulars from here have evacuated My Ballard.

There’s always a caravan of visitors camping on NW 46th and leaving a horrible mess every time they have to move their rigs. The city should cut services to transients and quit encouraging them.

I see the forum is getting back the pups pooping crisis. Happy New Year!

I can’t figure out why we have vehicles packed with trash that appear to be abandoned cars. There’s no room for a driver because there’s so much junk in the cars. Weird!

There shouldn’t be any veterans on the street because the US Dept of Veterans Affairs must have a half dozen programs to help a person return to civilian life.

I agree, that tagging stuff is annoying and I guess that’s why the idiot squad does it. Visual litter that has no value or message.

Maybe some old military barracks coupled with job training would be a better solution. The tent cities look too much like third world refugee camps and can’t be very healthy.

Does the congregation still meet and boogie in Ballard? I noticed a crazy looking man eating out of their garbage can recently.

Forming a block watch group costs less and gives you an excuse for a summer “Night Out” potluck party.

The population keeps going up and it brings the bums and crooks too. We have some friends in the Madrona area and they’ve had private security for some time. Having extra eyes on the block seems to work for them, being closer to the central area, which has always had a lot more crime. They patrol day and night and can alert the police to suspects prowling. Security can call or email, from the car to the neighborhood, when something is happening.

Not much sympathy from me for the substance abusers and criminals. The homeless need to clean-up after themselves because they are trashing Ballard/Seattle. Why do people pack a vehicle with garbage and park it on Leary Way for months?

The police are busy. A couple days ago, I found full wallet in the middle of the street and called the SPD non-emergency number. It took more than 45 minutes to get through. Later, a patrol car came by our house and picked it up. Those protesters are using up too much of our resources.

Property crime hurts every community. Did you see the story about package thefts in the Mill Creek suburb? A homeowner put out a decoy box and then captured the thief in the act.

We’ve noticed the scroungy bike patrol around the Ballard Fred Meyer. Some of them pull the little trailer that normal people use for kids or pets.

I don’t know how the SPD prioritizes their responses, but I’d guess bicycle theft is lower on the list of things to do. Lots of crazy stuff/crime going on all around us.

Yeah, things are getting crazy. Didn’t we have several high speed chases today? I wandered by this scene after they hauled the suspect away and took snapshots, which Phinneywood used. Lots of police working the event.
