I stand corrected. Huff Post article on the offending story.
Enjoy the rest of your lunch hour!
Anthony’s in Ballard should be leveled. Terrible in every aspect. The entire building smells like it hasn’t been cleaned since 1979.
Ray’s Upstairs in the bar for HH meal is as good a value as there is in Ballard IMHO. That said, I now avoid the calamari after the 60 Minutes expose. Man, that made me nauseous.
Thanks. It is/was. Let me see what I can come up with for you.
Thanks. Alrighty then. In no particular order.
Greig Beck..Beneath the Dark Ice
Andy Weir..The Martian ( I think the audio version is likely preferable)
Tom Harper..The Orpheus Descent ( another excellent audio outing)
Glenn Cooper..The Tenth Chamber
Ben Bova..The Kinsman Saga ( part of a long series, but stands well alone )
Peter Heller..The Dog Stars
Blake Crouch..Pines ( excellent! )
JA Konrath..Origin ( must be audio version for full effect..abit gory FYI )
McDermitt/Resnick..The Cassandra Project
Adrian d”hage..The Mayan Codex
Top 5 of recent times IMHO
Steven King…11-22-63 ( a LONG book, but I think ranks near his best )
Peter Clines..14 ( this is a remarkable book btw. highly recommended )
Anthony Frewin..63 Closure ( audio book excellence bar none..stunning)
Michael Flynn..Eifelheim ( amazing, will be with you for a long time )
Robert Jackson Bennett..American Elsewhere ( simply shimmering with uniqueness )
Do Audiobooks count on this list?
I concur on The Last Policeman series. Outstanding in everyway ( for speculative fiction that is.)
I do have a preferred list for Audible. Do at least 1 a week, if anyone is interested.
Hipsters flocking to the EMP? Last time I saw people enter the EMP/SciFi Museum, it was midwest tourist families looking for something to do before going up the Space Needle.
FYI to the writer, Lucky in Ballard are shutting down and going exclusively online.
This story seems abit stale , candidly. I think it is a reprint.
Love the comment about Larry King. So true. The only people I see reading the print version of this fishwrapper are business travellers in chain hotels, including myself. Maybe it’s just me, but distribution does not equate readership, pass along statistics aside.
Damn, I am abit of a cynic this morning.
7os actually, but wtf, i am pathetic notwithstanding. ambarrassed and regretting my recent posts. thanks though
Clearly my observations, comments and opinions are inapproriate for this forum. I suck. Oops, and apologies to all.
Now that is good music trivia.
I wonder if Sean Connery ( aka “Zardoz” ) still has that outfit. I would prefer not see it on the Scottish separatist at this stage in his life. I do believe Borat styled his manthong after that intitial design.
John Lodge’s bass on “Eternity Road” fairly rocks as well.
Thanks Vegan. I was on the “old” forum as well, and noted how things stumbled off the tracks. Always a good time.
FYI, I am a Canadian myself, and am well aware of how wonderful we are. LOL.
Or Whole Foods. Might as well go all in, and extract all possible paycheck dollars.
Points well made. However, just because it was built 10 years ago doesn’t , in and of itself, make it any better of a retail “experience”.
Gas stations can exist without reliance upon crappy grocery stores in my experience.
Your points are understood and respected , with the caveat that there is the Ballard Market and 24th St. QFC, as well as Trader Joes. Cash and Carry is still alive and kicking as well.
Or, I suppose, the intrepid shopper could always try out the worlds worst 7/11 ( Shilshole Avenue and the bottom of 32nd…don’t forget to bring your scannable ID! )
With pending merger of Safeway and Albertsons, under performing locations will be torched. Think Ballard Safeway ( which should have been leveled years ago ) and Crown Hill.
Sympathies for most employees, but goodness, how can most Safeways stay open? I work in lower Queen Anne ( aka the Food Ghetto ) and the local Safeway is a good candidate for conversion to a 24 hour gym, or some alternative use. Food store? Not so much.
wow…and this is related to Jeff Lynne’s pronunciations how?
I think I will start another random music post, just for the simple pleasure of seeing where it ends up. Highly recreational. Watch for it soon!
WellI certainly have been schooled in this thread, that is for sure. Thank you for the education.
And “Mr. Blue Sky “…amongst others, but yes, in particular in “Rockaria”.
Which, imho, rocks rather largely.
wow…talk about a compleat answer to a simple question.
So, to riff off this thread, has anyone confirmed that the LinkLab sausage king is shutting down? My contact at the Sunset Green Market says he is done.
Thoughts on this? IMHO, best sausage in the city.
Thank you for the update. I didn’t stop, so didn’t read the sign ( my bad ). Glad they are still around, albeit in a different mode.
Nothin’ like good bbq!
