After parking in Hillbilly land, I got yelled at by the owner of the house we were in front of. (Complete with a she-mullet and unlit cigarette dangling from leathery lips) It was a house that was for sale. That we were viewing with our real estate agent. Wouldn’t have made an offer even if it wasn’t a piece of crap.

People in this town are bizarre.

That thing looks like Borg cube. Actually, I guess it kind of is, just filled with Brogrammers instead of drones.

I’m not a big fan of zoos in general, but I really, really dislike that zoo. If I was king, I’d bulldoze the whole thing and turn in to a park / community space / bird sanctuary / whatever. But I’m not even related to the king, so…

Glad it was so easy. For what it’s worth, I went up to the DMV way up on Aurora to get my WA DL when I moved here 2 years ago, and it was the easiest, most pleasant DMV experience of my life by a factor of 10… Compared to back home it was like going to a spa!

So glad we ran down there a few weeks ago… Agree with Cate, the tofu sandwich was amazing, and I don’t normally like gobs of tofu even though I am one of those vegetarian types.

Reserving judgement until the details come out.

Beer, pizza, and handing out candy to the little ones. Probably only got about a dozen or so door knockers. But some real cute kids, and a couple of home made costumes that were awesome!

Joybird – They always need bags if you have extras. The clients are supposed to bring their own bags when shopping, but many do not. So, clean plastic bags are always on their wish list!

They were half dead before, then stopped breathing for a few weeks, so… Yeah I agree. I think folks may have just stopped checking.

Once had a neighbor’s house undergoing a massive renovation. The guys were using some kind of powered lift all day, every day and it made that “backing up beeping” noise constantly when in use. I was working from home and the 8 hours a day BEEP BEEP BEEP was maddening!

I just endured, although I had fantasies of heading over there with a hammer in the middle of the night to “adjust” the beeper.

I grew up with my grandparent’s German Shepherds… Love them too!

One of them helped me learn to walk… She would walk along side me and I threw an arm over her back. She would walk at just my pace all around the yard for as long as I wanted. I still have an urge to plop down and hug every one I see lol…

    Thanks for the advice LIA

I’m about 10 blocks from 30th and 61st, so I doubt it’s the same guy. And yeah, I would just hate for any pet or anyone to get bitten, or squashed by a car etc…

If it is someone on my block they will already know me (yay block parties haha) and I hope it can be cordial. It just puzzles me that anyone would think it was cool to just let their dog tear off into the neighborhood like that… I am perpetually confused by people haha.

Thanks VB I will check them out! We love the little antique collective over there so any excuse to visit out neighbors in Freemontland…

Boatgeek – Not a bad idea! Have also been toying with the idea of just getting a standard 5 or 10 lb CO2 tank and the necessary fittings / regulator to run it right to my soda machine… stash the tank under a cabinet and run the hose up to the machine. Saw online that lots of people have done this for their Sodastreams and only have to refill once a year haha…

Yeah, looks like it may be good, Sam Rockwell can do no wrong in my book. (Well maybe Iron Man 2, but that wasn’t his fault…)

The scariest thing about Ms. Knightley is knowing the camera adds 10 pounds. She must look like the proverbial “bag of antlers” under her clothes!

While we are on the subject of bathrooms, what’s up with the Moose?I find the food freakin’ delicious, but the bathrooms are just kinda gross… I have avoided taking out of town guests there just because of this.

I was excited when they closed for remodeling, then came in to see the same old chipped paint on the walls, grimy bathrooms, badly trimmed wax paper stuffed in to the overhead florescents for “atmosphere”… what did they remodel? Kitchen?

Give me a couple of guys / gals and a weekend and I could make that place so much more appealing. Patching holes in the walls where 5 different iterations of soap dispensers have come and gone isn’t that hard!

A dive bar is like putting on an old pair of ripped jeans. Comfortable, lots of great memories psychically imprinted in the very atomic structure.

They are usually populated by local neighborhood folks, relaxed, and the food becomes less scary after a couple of drinks. Hell, I have gotten sick as hell to some of the “hipper” joints, but survived the baked potatoes at the Viking and french fries at The Alley with no harm done.

The waitress at my old dive would randomly offer to “supersize” my drink for a dollar. They feel like a vital part of the community the way that newer places don’t.

I remember when the wife and I moved here almost 2 years ago, we thought we were gonna be down on Ballard Ave all the time. We tried quite a few places, but when we finally met up after work for a pint at the Viking it was the first time in Seattle that we felt relaxed and “home”.

Yep, 90’s were my heyday. Went there on my first date with my wife of 12 years now as a litmus test, hehe.
