“I’m going to have to start using the Amazon lockers.  I’m concerned that if smaller crimes like this are happening in this area, bigger crimes will soon follow. I just want neighbors to be alert,” writes Julie.

A local resident had a package stolen off the front porch of her home on NW 60th St between 20th Ave NW and 22nd Ave NW on Monday morning.

“Not a high price item, but it’s still disconcerting. The package was delivered late yesterday morning and we weren’t home, so I assume it was taken before we returned mid afternoon,” says Kathleen.

Having seen this article, I am writing in about my and my neighbors’ recent package thefts. Five days ago, someone swiped a package my girlfriend ordered. They left a less valuable package alone.

Four days ago, I found a neighbor’s package that someone slashed open and tossed around the side of my and my girlfriend’s house. There was a book in the package, with an item missing.

Today, the same neighbor reported another package stolen.

My Ballard reader Alison emailed in to let us know about yet another incident of package theft in our area.

In this particular incident, a hand made quilt (pictured) which was a gift for a local newborn was taken.

The quilt maker posted the following message on her Facebook page:

This lovely baby quilt was stolen from the front door of the intended recipient on NW 81st Street in Seattle this past Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014.

On one of the curved corners I wrote “Made for Lauren by J. Carlton, 2014.” Please share this post in hopes that someone in the Seattle area will recognize it and do the right thing by helping me get it to the little baby girl it was intended for.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of the quilt send an email to us at tips@myballard.com and we will pass it on.
