Shoreline access improvements planned for 36th Ave NW

Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Seattle Department of Transportation have planned some shoreline access improvements along several Seattle streets, including the street end of 36th Ave NW near the Burke Gilman Trail. The projects are aimed at providing physical and/or visual access to the shoreline and water.

The plan for 36th Ave NW includes creating an overlook, a bicycle rack and a picnic table. Seattle Parks says additional improvements could include signs and native landscaping. The Parks and Green Spaces Levy, passed by Seattle voters in 2008, provides funding for planning, design, permitting and construction for these projects, ranging from improvements to neighborhood play areas, playfields, community gardens, and safety upgrades at city-owned cultural facilities.
