The Canal extends Sunday openings through end of September

Update: Jewel Hospitality will be switching from compostable cups to house glassware after hearing feedback from customers.

They’ve decided that the popularity of the event justifies bringing in a dishwashing crew and cutting down on waste. Going forward, all pints will be served in the glassware photographed below.

They’ve also decided to offer only in-house food for the rest of the summer, which is detailed in the original post.

Original: Given the popularity of the first few public openings, Jewel Hospitality has decided to extend their Sunday “Pints on the Patio” at The Canal through the end of September.

Jewel Hospitality co-owner Doug Evans says they made the decision for three reasons: the popularity of the first few events, nostalgia, and location. “It also helps to be dog- and kid-friendly,” Evans tells My Ballard.

Social media manager Will Lemke says last Sunday was packed: they had a full house from open to close.

The Sunday openings will be from 12pm to 6pm every weekend, featuring beers from local breweries. They’ll also start offering weekly food options upcoming openings, including $3 pizza slices, lumpia with pork and sweet chili sauce for $7, coconut shrimp for $10, and boat-fulls of fries for $5.

  1. Looks like a table full of plastic. So 2000’s. For those of us pulling tons of plastic out of the ship canal you would think a restaurant called “The Canal” would have a clue.

      1. Yeah still tacky and nobody wants a $10 beer in plastic, compostable or not.
We’ll be eating out of it at the Diversity-staffed retirement home, no need to make us drink expensive booze out if it prior.

          1. Crater brain can’t understand the concept of “former liberals”.

Many of us came to the realizations that that the term “journalist” was as nebulous as the liberal concept of gender: basically anybody with a blog who says they are one, is one, just like when you demand to be called zher or whatever.

But hey at least we’re all getting front row seats to conditions similar to the Chinese Cultural Revolution. How little you Maoists have changed.

          2. No liberal is as hate-filled, racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic, childish or as ignorant as yourself, so clearly you are delusional and were never liberal. You should be advocating for mental health reform, I think it’d serve you better than redirecting your inadequacies on hating the poor, the LGBTQ community and liberals.

          3. Best to leave this pathetic, delusional ingrate to scream into the wind unanswered. He lives to spread his misery and will use as many screen names as he can to get someone to engage with him. He’s only happy when he’s miserable.

          4. I think it may be too late to cure his intellectual impotence. Sadly, there are some hate junkies who are beyond help.

          6. Zero HP Lovecraft:
‏”The digital panopticon may end up supplanting the social innovation of belief in a wrathful god, and the digital panopticon demands dysgenic sacrifices. Perhaps that very real threat can be our new fear of hell.”

          7. I don’t know what the quote is all about but I upvoted you for referencing Lovecraft!

          8. Surly’s post seems to come from someone who only hears what they want to hear and reads only what they know in advance will support their opinion…

  2. My experience is that the tap beer is always terrible here. The kegs are out in the parking lot, and they don’t clean the lines. If you go there, get something bottled.
