Speaks Her Mind is staging a protest at Green Lake this Sunday, February 19 at 2 pm. Called Take Back Our Bodies, the group is protesting the proposed ban of the Day After pill.

“I’m really angry,“ said rally organizer Manya Vee of Speaks Her Mind.

“I can’t believe we are having this conversation all over again,“ she added. “We have got to stop America’s Taliban from taking away our rights.”

The proposed ban comes from a lawsuit filed by abortion opponents in district court in Amarillo, Texas. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee known for his conservative Christian ideals, is presiding. Over twenty Republican states attorney general have filed amicus briefs supporting the lawsuit.

If the lawsuit succeeds, the Day After pill will likely be banned in all fifty states.

The Take Back Our Bodies protest is being held on the lawn near Seattle Public Theater on the northwest side of Green Lake. The protest will feature speeches by local activists, followed by a short Q&A.
