Two positions are opening up on the Ballard Avenue Landmark Board this year.
The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods (DON) Historic Preservation Program conducts the annual election for board members, all of whom are nominated by the community.
The Ballard Avenue Landmark Board reviews applications from business owners in the Ballard Avenue Historic District who wish to make changes to the exterior of structures. They review requests for changes to signage, new construction, remodeling, or demolition.
The community elects five of the seven board members, and the Mayor of Seattle appoints the other two members. All board members serve two-year terms.
This year, two of the seven positions will appear on the 2024 ballot.
- Position #6 for Property Owner or Business Person (term expires 6/30/26)
- Position #7 for Property Owner (term expires 6/30/26)
Nominations are open now: Community members who wish to nominate candidates must do so by May 21 at 5 p.m. (nomination forms are available on the DON website).
The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, June 11. To confirm registration status, contact Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board Coordinator Minh Chau Le at 202-684-0229 or email at minhchau.le@seattle.gov.
The DON will mail ballots on Friday, May 24, and must be returned via mail by Tuesday, June 25.
