Ukrainian Egg Decorating workshop

$50Learn to make traditional Ukrainian decorated eggs with a beautiful, magical, wax-resist technique. No experience necessary; all materials provided.
Learn to use a kistka to apply beeswax to the surface of an egg. Explore geometric patterns and traditional symbols or choose your own adventure! Dye or etch your egg in layers, empty out the inside, and leave it to dry out.
Take your egg home to varnish yourself, or leave your egg for your instructor to varnish and pick it up one week later.
Shared class supplies you’ll have access to:
– kistky
– pysanky dyes
– beeswax
– candles
– egg blowers
– lots of books with design ideas
What you’ll leave with:
– one decorated egg
– pysanky how-to handout
– resource list to purchase your own materials and display stands
a new craft passion!
Class will be held in the Ballard neighborhood at 3040 NW 63rd Street, Seattle 98107. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Direct Relief to benefit Ukrainian relief efforts.
Meghan Urback started making pysanky in elementary school and is always thrilled to witness students melt the beeswax off of their first egg!
