‘BallardSingles.com’ signs sprouting up

Posted by Geeky Swedes on December 23rd, 2007

You’ve probably seen those SeattleSingles.com signs around Seattle, but now BallardSingles.com signs are sprouting up around our neighborhood. (I’ll save you the trouble of visiting the site — it’s just a long form asking for all your personal information with the promise of meeting “quality single men and women” in Ballard.) Anyway, I looked around and couldn’t find any other Seattle neighborhood with the same site. No CapitolHillSingles.com. NoQueenAnneSingles.com. Well, obviously. Everyone knows that Ballard is the hoppin’ place for Seattle singles (actually, sort of, it is).

They have them in Bellevue, too; I believe the URL there is "BellevueSinglers.ORG."
  • One last quip about Great Expectations - here is a site chronicling the complaints against them: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/dating_services/...
  • I have the dubious distinction of visiting this site and filling out the form. Those signs are bogus, as there is no actual dating site called "BallardSingles.com". The form it has you fill out goes to the Great Expectations company, which is an extremely expensive - sometimes in excess of $3000 (Google it if you don't believe me) - alternative to normal dating sites. Once you fill out the form the Great Expectations sales staff will call you, and all the while they will dodge the question of how much the service costs, saying things like "How can you put a price on true love?" and "You get what you pay for". Thankfully I have not had any repeat phone calls from Great Expectations, just the one long, annoying call. Hope my experience helps anyone else that's considered using the site.
  • Actually I've seen it in Kirkland last year in high traffic area, it's probably around Costco.
