Ultra-low tide at Golden Gardens

Kids of all ages headed to Golden Gardens park at noon today for the extreme low tide. Bottoming out at -4.3 feet, this tide is the lowest tide so far this year, and we’ve heard that it may be the lowest in years.

We heard lots of “ooohs” and “aaahs” from the kids as they explored the beach.

Lots of crabs, sea urchins and sea lettuce, which this little girl couldn’t get enough of. The entertainment was both at the shoreline and off. In the distance, sea lions frolicked around a buoy.

If you missed today’s low tide, tomorrow will still be extremely low at -4.2 feet. The next round of low tides is over the fourth of July weekend.
