Tour a ‘Deadliest Catch’ boat

Posted by Geeky Swedes on June 14th, 2008

Fans of the “Deadliest Catch” can now get a tour of one of the boats, the Sea Star, at Fishermen’s Terminal. The tour and gift shop opened this weekend and will run all summer long. The Sea Star was turned into a tourist attraction last year in Alaska, but after a poor showing, they moved it to Seattle. The boat is located at dock 9. Tours cost $10 for adults and $7.50 for seniors and kids (age five and under are free.) Hours are 9-6 on weekends and 10-6 on weekdays.

I watch this show alot and when I saw the sign for the tour when I was driving through Magnolia recently, I was like "Cool!" But too bad it isn't one of their mainships like The Northwestern.

In tomorrow night's all-new episode of Deadliest Catch, the Northwestern fights the ice pack while the Wizard sets off with tempers flaring and a new greenhorn. Meanwhile, Phil's future on Cornelia Marie is questionable, so the crew struggles on without their captain. New episodes premiere every Tuesday night at 9PM on the Discovery Channel. http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/deadliestcatc...

I work just across the Ballard bridge from the terminal, so I'm totally going. But I'm a nerd for that show.

My guess is that they would make that show on 2 conditions:

    1) "Dot-commers" still existed (what is this 1997?)
    2) Anyone was still fishing for condos in Seattle.

As someone who doesn't watch TV, I say, who cares?

And when will they do a reality show about dotcomers fishing for condos in Ballard? That would be far more entertaining that a show about guys who smell like fish guts and their girlfriends who can pop beer tops with one lip.

Ten bucks for grown-ups! crazy. I am not that interested.

As family of an Alaskan crabber I have to agree - but remember that catering to tourists is catering to the lowest common denominator, and it's a helluva lot safer....

As a former Alaskan commercial fisherman I have one word for this... WEAK.
