Pick your favorite Ballard T-shirt

Posted by Geeky Swedes on June 26th, 2008

Last month, we asked for ideas to create a MyBallard.com T-shirt, and we received over 100 submissions. Now, after a horribly unscientific process (a bottle of Chardonnay was involved), we’ve narrowed them down to 9 options (we added some, too.) In each case — except for “Remember Edith” — we’ll display MyBallard.com in smaller letters under the slogan (see example). You can vote for more than one option, but you can vote only once. And as promised, we’ll send a free T-shirt to whoever came up with the idea.

Quizzes by Quibblo.com

(Oddly, the poll doesn’t reflect your results until you refresh the page. And if it’s not loading in the first place, hit refresh, too.) Once the votes are in, we’ll make the shirts available for sale at cost. And if you have any other T-shirt ideas, feel free to post ‘em in comments below.

Personally I dig suthii's "fear change" slogan, hehe
  • You can check out the ones on InkFruit.com
There are some great tees that have been submitted and voted upon by our members. Maybe you'll like something for your site there.

I think the "Ballard Native" one should have a target on it. It could have text at the bottom that says "aim here suthii". ;-)
  • pioggia
how about "Ballard: I can't afford to live here"

or simply "Old Ballard" (with or without target)

And of course (I really want this for my husband) "Geeky Swede"

How about - " Your Denny's could be next "

"Ballard Native"....with a target! Haha! Good one!
  • Heather
Archie McPhee already has a shirt for sale with the slogan "Old Ballard"!
  • Suthii
    ” Your Denny’s could be next “

    A positive t-shirt!

Wow, I forgot 'Love it or Leave it' was my submission. Do I get a free t-shirt if I win?
  • Jason
Does anyone else feel that "Love It or Leave It" has some real negative vibes attached to it in today's ultra-"patriotic", chest beating, flag waving times?

If leaving is the solution to the problem of Ballard's loss of true culture and individuality, maybe I will, BECAUSE I love Ballard. And I won't love leaving, but I am being forced out.

    'Slow Down.....You're in Ballard'

" “Love It or Leave It” has some real negative vibes attached to it in today’s ultra-”patriotic”, chest beating, flag waving times?"

What better way to capture the nativist spirit of the Ballard diehards? Great irony is, they are the ones selling and leaving for Kent etc. , so I guess in the end, they didn't really love it all that much. Just suffer from too much class envy.

" I am being forced out."

Really, the Windermere agent's got a gun to your head? Some tech worker dragged you out of your home at midnight, beat you with his iBook and forced you to move?
  • Suthii
    "Ballard’s loss of true culture"

Spoken like a true reactionary: we have culture, they don't. I guess tolerance, ability to handle change and open mindedness are not part of that 'true culture'? How do you think the natives who lived here before you all came along felt?

And what's so 'true' about the culture at Denny's or Sunset Bowl vs. say a good wine bar or cafe with those infamous $4 coffees? Can't they both be culture? Just because some things cost more, does that mean they are not 'real culture' in your book?

Please explain, I need a good giggle to put me to sleep.

In some strange way, I agree with Suthii here. I guess I'm in to beating the "let's stop stereotyping" drum. I like the other sayings better and didn't vote for "love it or leave it", but is does not conjure a negative feeling for me. Maybe even a positive one: "Unconditionally, even with the change, accept the losses, embrace the cool new stuff, and move on, or leave it." :-) OK, too long for a t-shirt.

    suthii,

guess you haven't received your property assessment in the mail yet. that's why some are being forced out! it's not a class thing at all. it's the city's way of trying to recoop revenue for poor management.
  • Suthii
"guess you haven’t received your property assessment in the mail yet"

I did , thanks. Hey, I'm all for cutting taxes, I'm tired of wealth redistribution as well. No disagreement from me. Stop raising our property taxes, slash public spending.

    "revenue for poor management."

Or too much waste on too many stupid pet projects.
  • Suthii
" you haven’t received your property assessment in the mail yet."

Sorry, isn't it Ballard's proto-socialists, granola crunchers and blue collar stiffs alike, who are demanding a mono-rail to every home, a condo for every dunken bum, a post-graduate degree for every gang banger and a chicken in every pot from our politicians?

Maybe if we didn't vote for these things, our taxes wouldn't keep going up?
  • mom
i didn't vote for any of the aforementioned.
