Paseo to replace Gordo’s on Seaview

Posted by Geeky Swedes on July 2nd, 2008

Last night, we posted a story about Gordo’s closing, and My Ballard reader Schrewzard wrote in comments that the owners said they’ve sold the burger shack to Paseo in Fremont. So we called Paseo and they confirmed it: the popular Cuban sandwich shop is planning to open a new location at Gordo’s by the end of the month. As we wrote before, it will be sad to see Gordo’s go — they’ve been a Ballard institution along Seaview since the 70’s — but I think a lot of folks will be happy to have Paseo in our neighborhood.

    Dang!!!!
I love Paseo and have absolutely no problem driving up to Fremont for a sandwich and a Beer next door at the Buckaroo, but where else can you get fish and chips like Gordo's? Besides he always made the chips extra crispy for me.
I guess I need to get back down there quick for one last fix.

some of the best fish and shakes I have ever eaten was at Gordos.. hope they enjoy their retirement!!
  • I love Paseo's, but I'm super sad about Gordo's. Is it closed already? I need to to say goodbye! I've been going there my whole life. It's nice to have a few things from back in the day around still. But at least it's being replaced by something delish.
  • Yes! This is so exciting!
  • Pretty sure there are already two Paseo's. At least there used to be, anyway, a few years ago.
Sounds like this will be an additional location.

So.... is Paseo moving, or are there going to be two Paseos now?

I wonder if Gordo retired or what? Their fish n' chips was totally unbeatable. Maybe coney's will step it up a bit (though I do like their swirly cones)

This is ten tons of awesome! Just the right thing to negate a bike ride down the Gilman. Somehow I'll feel guilt-free.

i predict there will soon be a person sized hole in that fence behind the old gordo's.

there was a great write up on the sunday paper about paseo's.

john eddy--i'm in the same predicament. it sounds like we will need the extra 5 minute walk.

O.M.G.!! Paseo in Ballard and not even a traffic light between me and it!

Though, I am sorry to see a classic burger joint bite the dust.

Paseo is fantastic and absolutely belongs in Ballard.
  • Nomore teriyaki in fremont
Anything but teriyaki. All we have in fremont it seems is frikin teriyaki.
  • The only problem is the Burke-Gilman fence blocking people from the path behind Gordo's-cum-Paseo's forcing me to walk an extra 5 minutes for some slow roasted porky goodness. Sure, it's there to 'protect' people from the train, but, we all know it's to guide the line out the door... =)
