Car crashes on 58th, driver flees

Posted by Geeky Swedes on August 4th, 2008

My Ballard reader Halee reports that someone in a Cadillac lost control at high speed and crashed into a parked car (pictured) on 58th St., pushing it into a planter box. It happened early this morning around 3 a.m.

“The driver abandoned the car after the collision,” she writes. “The officer said the driver just got his license back after having it suspended for DUI. There is a case of Corona in the back seat.” Thanks for the tip and photo, Halee!

  • Well, thank god he wasn't on some illegal substance like pot. I'd hate to see the effects of that!

"Dude, like,.. uh... they'll never find me if all they have is my car and license plates!"

Does anyone know the cross street where this happened?
Two or so weeks ago, one car traveling south on 11th Ave between NW 57th and NW 56th bounched off of one parked car and landed between two others, but at about 8:30p or so at night. We all heard the crashes and went out while a nurse from our neighborhood helped the driver and waited for the police and medics to arrive. No serious injuries but it was hard to imagine that this driver was sober, but the on-site officer didn't let on to any of us what she was charged with or any other details.

He'll get hit with fleeing, but proving he was drunk is another matter as he fled the scene and they can't prove he was drunk at the time. It's actually a pretty smart move -as is refusing to take a breathalizer. You lose your license in WA I believe but you can get an occupational license for work purposes and your insurance isn't as astronomical.

This happened between 11th and 14th on 58th. The Cadillac was headed eastbound. And fast!

    A Seafair hangover perhaps?

Yeah, I guess there are legalistic advantages to running away from your car accident, which really, is kind of sad.

I'm not sure getting behind the wheel was a great decision in the first place. Seems strange to have such critical thinking after the accident.

And i dont think that is a Caddy........maybe a SAAB?? Come on Halee you've been to detroit!

That is the car that was hit. It looks like a new Toyota or something like that.

C'mon now. If it was your car that was hit by a drunk driver in the middle of the night, you wouldn't be joking so much, especially since the loser who hit you is probably uninsured as well and left you with one big fucking mess to clean up. Ha! Now that is a knee slapper!

It looks like a Subaru Legacy to me!

Was it a vintage red Caddy convertible?

Another car crash at 15th and Market this evening. Perhaps the red light cameras caught something.

    This is becoming quite common.
