Ballard team heading to vintage car race

Posted by Geeky Swedes on October 16th, 2008

John Voss, owner of Apex Automotive (formerly Oddvar’s) loves vintage cars and loves putting them to the test.

Voss and his team are heading to Mexico to race this 1966 Volvo 122s in The Great Mexican Road Race. “The La Carrera Panamericana is a world famous road rally that is for vintage cars only,” Voss tells us. “I love vintage cars and especially like to race them.” The 7-day race will take them nearly 2,000 miles from just north of the Guatemalan border to the Texas/Mexico border town of Nuevo Laredo. They’re the underdogs in their class, but that won’t slow them down. They were the underdogs in a race this past April and won!

  • There's a truck up on 17th NW, at around 60th, that has an "Obsolete Racing Team" logo on the door. Parked next to said pickup are two covered vehicles which I have assumed are their race cars.

Since I've never seen the cars without their covers, I'm curious: is it the cars that are obsolete, or their owners?
