SeattlePI.com: “Look beyond the dark curtains and scruffy paper signs visible from the street and you’ll be rewarded with hearty German food, a nice selection of European beer and dangerously good deep-fried pickles.”

TheStranger.com:”If you’re looking for the kind of hearty fare Germans use to power through dark, cold winters, the People’s Pub’s Kraut-friendly menu may be just what you need.”

The fried pickles are like heaven on a plate. Plus they have Strongbow on tap!

Deep fried pickles with wonderful mustard - wow! And great beer too.

I love this place - looks like a dive but always good people watching, great beer, good food (try the goulash, try the schnitzel, have the pickles, it's all good)

And yes, the German's did bomb my chipshop during the last spot of bother but I forgive them at Volkskniepe...

ALmost as clean as my garage. I went in here for a fix of German food as I heard good things about it. After getting a beer I sat at my table for a long, long time. Normally I would have stopped someone, but I was curious how long it would take before someone noticed me on a not very busy day. 30 minutes later a waitress came up to my table and asked my what I wanted. I reminded her of the order she had taken from sometime earlier. She came back and told me that they had lost my order. I should have left then....

Jaeger Schnitzel with mushroom gravy, red-cabbage and Spaetzle -- so good that I eat only half so I can have leftovers for lunch the next day! MMMMMmmmmm

And my husband loves the Hungarian gulash -- with the best beef.

Love the food. Service can be slow.

Most fun thing? sitting by the window feeling sorry for the Bellevue-ites in their tassled loafers and pressed jeans headed for Volterra's. While they peek in the window and feel sorry for us! too funny!!!!
