Recycling electronics for free at Goodwill

Posted by Geeky Swedes on January 2nd, 2009

The Goodwill on 8th Ave. and 65th has been especially busy today, accepting electronics along with its usual donations.

It’s all part of E-Cycle Washington, a new program that kicked off on January 1st that provides free recycling of computer CPUs, televisions, monitors and laptops. Goodwill is one of the collection points, and electronics manufacturers are required to take responsibility for recycling them. Please note that computer mice, printers, copiers, scanners, keyboards, cell phones and all other electrical devices are NOT included. For more info, visit eCycleWashington.org.

It is ironic that the law now decrees that recycling centers may not tamper with the goods deposited. This is a shame because most of what is tossed out is a repair waway from being good again.
