Ballard woman dies after accident in Fremont

Posted by Geeky Swedes on February 19th, 2009

A 42-year-old Ballard woman who was involved in yesterday’s crash that shut down the Fremont Bridge has died.

The Seattle Times says a woman claiming to be the victim’s friend called them. The friend says the woman may have suffered a medical emergency before the accident. The woman also tells the Times that the woman lived in Ballard with her husband and twin 5-year-old boys. The King County Medical Examiner has identified her as Christine Duffy.

How horrible for those kids and their father. So sorry to hear that more Ballard children have lost a young parent.

"The woman was identified as Christine Duffy by the King County Medical Examiner's Office, but death investigators are still trying to determine her cause of death."

That's really sad to hear. I just drove over that bridge this morning and saw the markings but since I've been away from the blog for a few days I didn't know about this. Very sad. It could happen to any of us or our loved ones.

Btw, does anybody know how the victims of that big accident two weeks ago on 15th are doing? (Not the drunk guy--I hope he is rotting in some foul place--but the others that were hit.)

The Duffy family will be in my thoughts. Oh how they must be suffering.

All we can do is promise to be a little more cautious out there everyone on behalf of those who have lost loved ones permanently to one little driving error. Remaining vigilant behind the wheel is the only true way to honor them.

This is such a terrible loss of a beautiful woman, inside and out. I will miss seeing her kind smiling face. I'm so sorry for the family, her sweet boys will be missing out on such a wonderful Mommy. My thoughts are with them and Dad in this very hard time.

It is very odd that the medical examiner is taking so long to determine the cause of death. Who was the "friend" who called in so fast to the Times.

Women in their late 30's or early 40's don't have a seizure that stops their heart unless it is due to an excess of a medication .

An odd coincidence happened that same week when a friend of mine could no longer see her doctor as the doc was apparently is devastated as she "lost a patient".

Hopefully this is just a very sad accident and odd coincidence but it is so rare for a 40 something mom to die.
