Full moon rising and falling

Posted by Geeky Swedes on March 10th, 2009

We shot this photo of the moon over Phinney Ridge last night.

And My Ballard reader Karen captured this shot of the moon over the Olympic Mountains early this morning. Beautiful!

The moon from my deck tonight was an incredible site. Too cold to be out there. Glad to have a place to be warm tonight.

Very nice. I was just starting a soccer game at Marymoor Park and it was HUGE and rising over the trees, looked very cool. Next time, I'll remember to pull out my phone and snap a photo!

It's too big to be a space station.

The moon setting over the Olympics this morning was INCREDIBLE. Anyone get a picture?? I was driving and only had my camera phone.
  • Thanks, Roy - that was really funny! You too, BallardDINK!

Yes I noticed the moon last night after I got out of class. Then I reminded myself to watch out for lunatic drivers. ;-)

photographs can't really do the moon justice--it was quite a sight!
(similarly to the picture of the double rainbow a few weeks back)

Thank you for these photos! We were parked on Phinney to watch the moonrise last night. (It is set to rise at 7:19 tonight.) Here is some other moon info--the names of the moon for each month.

  • I have loved the recent clear skies!!!

I have a Farmer's Almanac Calendar and they have names for all the moons. This here is the "Full Worm Moon". For all those gardeners out there, i guess this means the soil is comin' back to life!!

An incredible moonset like this one happens once a year or so. Let me clarify - they probably happen more often - we just can't see them.

As I headed out of the house this morning for the bus, I noticed the moon would go behind the mountains in 20 minutes or so. I went back inside to watch it set. It was worth being late to work.

that is so neat that you actually took the time to sit and watch the moon! more people need to stop and live like that from time to time. a great way to start your sunny day....
