Final beam placed atop new Swedish building

Posted by Geeky Swedes on January 11th, 2010

Less than four months since the groundbreaking, crews have placed the final steel beam atop the new Swedish building on Tallman Ave.

Hospital officials, project designers and workers and representatives from Mortenson Construction gathered today for the structural steel topping out ceremony, and each was given the chance to sign the beam before it was set in place. With the structural steel in place, work is still on track for the facility to be open this fall.

The first floor of the new 90,000 square foot building will be a new emergency department. A new imaging center will be on the second floor with Swedish Physicians family practice on the third floor. The top two floors will be office space for specialty physicians. (Artist’s rendering above. Disclosure: Swedish ER is a sponsor of MyBallard.)
