Teens arrested after attack at Golden Gardens

Three teens have been arrested after what police are calling a “melee” at Golden Gardens just before 10 p.m. Thursday. According to the police blotter, about a dozen juveniles were hanging out at the park when three 18-year-old suspects began walking “suspiciously” around the group. The three began an unprovoked attack on the group, according to police, after they were confronted by several of the teens. During the fight, both males and females were attacked by the suspects. One of the suspects grabbed a purse and fled, the other two followed. The three climbed into a Dodge Caravan and attempted to get away, but a police officer arrived in time to block the 18-year-old suspects from leaving. The three were arrested for Investigation of Robbery. None of the victims had serious injuries. The purse was returned to the owner. (Thanks everyone for the emails!)

  1. Glad the police were able to stop them. I had my little scooter destroyed by a large group a few years back, while I stood there freaking out. As the group started to approach me, my boyfriend luckily walked me away as we called the police. The police finally showed up after a number of phone calls, and as they pulled up everyone scattered and ran. No one was caught, and my little scooter was totally mangled! Booo…I’m sad at what seems to be happening to my favorite summertime beach at night.

  2. Thugs? LOL!

“The three climbed into a Dodge Caravan and attempted to get away”

Sounds more like local kids in mommy’s minivan.

  4. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights need to have at least one police car stationed there and another rolling through constantly when the weather is nice.

  5. Yes. Tis the season for pealing out, illegal fireworks, illegal beach fires, drugs and general stupidity at Golden Gardens. Plus you get a tons of speeders on 32nd, 85th, and Golden Garden Drive NW. I think it’s only a matter of time before a cyclist or pedestrian gets killed Golden Garden Drive, despite Sharrows and good sign-age. I’ve seen multiple teenager almost spin out trying to zip down that hill… arg.

  6. Nothing wrong with a good old fist fight between teenagers, yanked hair, screaming girls, a purse grab, and a beat cop to break it up. It’s all part of growing up.
