Art Walk set to inspire community creativity this Saturday night

Art Walk will hit the streets of Ballard from Leary Way to Shilshole Ave this Saturday, April 13 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. During Ballard’s Second Saturday Art Walk local artists will open their studios and businesses will hang local artwork on their walls to inspire the community in a night of creativity. The event will feature art in all forms including painting, glass, art, sculpture, performance art and more.

During this month’s Art Walk local photographer Katie Ward will feature her underwater photography in an exhibition at Umpqua Bank (2032 NW Market St).

Ward was born and raised on Long Island and moved to the West Coast to study at Brook’s Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. Ward will showcase her works created from the combination of her experience as a photographer and her new found love of scuba diving. She travelled up and down the coast to capture images (pictured above) underwater using a Canon 5D in an Ikelite housing with one underwater strobe.

Art Walk is both a family-friendly and free event that was started by Ballard Chamber of Commerce back in 1997.
