Puget Sound Starts Here Night set for Saturday at Safeco Field

Puget Sound Starts Here Night will be held at Safeco Field this Saturday, May 11, from 6:10 p.m. The Seattle Mariners  will take on the Oakland A’s in support of the local partnership, which is dedicated to improving water quality and aquatic habitats in the Puget Sound area.

Puget Sound Starts Here has partnered cities, counties, state and federal agencies, nonprofit groups, and local organizations to focus on maintaining steams, rivers, lakes, wetlands, and other waterways that flow into Puget Sound, Hood Canal, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Here in the City of Seattle, Restore Our Waters (ROW) was created in 2004 to be the City’s vehicle for action in regards to protecting our local creeks, lakes, the Duwamish River and the overall well being of the Puget Sound. ROW has partnered with Puget Sound Starts Here to emphasize the importance of protecting our local waterways to all Seattleites.

“We all have a role to play in the protecting and restoring our waters. Non-point source pollution via polluted rainwater runoff is now the number one threat to the health of Puget Sound. To take an example, it is estimated that around 1 million pounds of oil enters the Puget Sound Basin each year mainly via leaky cars,” says ROW Watershed Outreach & Education Bill Malatinsky.

Discounted tickets to Puget Sound Starts Here Night are available to all Puget Sound Residents. The discounts offered are View Reserved seats at $15, which are usually $25, and Field level seats for $29, which are usually $40. Tickets can be purchased until 12 noon this Friday, May 10. Each purchase of these special tickets includes a free Mariners/Puget Sound Starts Here hat that you can see pictured on the ticket purchase website. The first 20,000 fans to arrive at the game will also receive a Tom Wilhelmsen Train Engine.
