BHS Men’s Quartet sing their way to 1st at state competition

The Ballard High School Men’s Quartet took out first place at the prestigious State Solo and Ensemble Competition held on April 26 and 27 at Central Washington University.

Men’s Quartet members Gerson Tschider (Tenor I), George Chrisafis (Tenor II), Logan Monson (Baritone), and Spencer Johnson (Bass) placed first over 21 other men’s vocal ensembles from across the state. “This win marks the first time a Ballard ensemble has taken the top prize at the WIAA state music championship,” says BHS Director of Choirs Courtney Rowley.

Congratulations is also due to the BHS Percussion Duet (Ben Lennon and Luca Cartner) and the eight soloists (Joe Palasz, Dylan Riley, Karsten Newby, Natalia Roberts Buceta, Frances Steelquist, Maddie LeClair, Joan Houser, and Sita Pongthunyaviriya) who also performed brilliantly at the competition.

BHS continued to showcase their excellence in choir performance tonight at the 3rd Annual NW-Cluster Showcase of Choirs. The Showcase featured the choirs of Adams Elementary, Coe Elementary, Lawton Elementary, Whittier Elementary, West Woodland, McClure Middle School, Hamilton Middle School, Whitman Middle School, and Ballard High School.

Congratulations to all of our young local vocalists!
