The My Ballard team has received several reports that Westernco Donuts (7500 15th Ave NW) will be closing its doors for good on December 24.
Sona Srong has been running the store for the past 12 years and wants the community to be aware of the closure.
Srong has been forced to close the store due to a proposed development on the site.
“Unsurprisingly, the reason is that she cannot renew her lease due to the proposed development of the site. For people who like her donuts and fritters, there are ten more days to go get some,” says My Ballard reader Jordan.
Westernco Donut House has been in the neighborhood since the 1960s and is sure to be missed by many after its closure.
“It wasn’t a fancy, trendy place but it sure had its loyal customers mostly due to the cheerful, chatty presence of Sona,” writes My Ballard reader Jean.
Westernco Donut House will be open regular hours from 5:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. until the closure on Christmas Eve.
