Ballard Library is hosting a preview concert of Seattle Opera’s upcoming production of Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 4).

“La Traviata” is a passionate portrait of a worldly courtesan forced by bourgeois society to give up the man of her dreams. The opera enthralls with a wide range of moods packed into a tautly-constructed story, with a musical score that elevates a timeless tale of moral hypocrisy and selfless sacrifice.

Featuring professional singers and an accompanist, this hour-long presentation will take you on a journey through the story and music of the opera.

The event is free and registration is not required.

No wonder the hobos love Seattle!
The opera serenades them while they hang out in the crapper.

The director should round up some of the local “lovable scamps” for an off Broadway version of Hamilton. That junkie with the afro can be star in it with the tall thief with his ass hanging out of his pants.

I’m sure Ed and The Stranger would luuuuuv it.
