Gather Kitchen and Bar to open next to Ballard Commons Park

A restaurant and bar will soon be opening under the Ballard Commons apartment building. It’s called Gather Kitchen and Bar (5605 22nd Ave NW), and according to their website, is set to open doors in August.

“Inspired by travel and family gatherings,” their website reads, “Chef Ryan Donaldson opened Gather with the goal of creating a family style menu of both intriguing and familiar flavors with a global influence in a setting that invokes feelings of comfort.”

Their menu includes a range of vegetarian, seafood and meat entrees. Veggie options include dishes such as Anson Mills polenta with roasted wild mushrooms and an apple demi place ($16); and fried cauliflower with Uncle Chen’s Buffalo Sauce, sweet cucumber pickles and a blue cheese mousse ($12). Seafood options include dishes such as roasted dungeness crab with,posole verde, cilantro and radish ($17), and grilled octopus with romesco, fried potatoes and a black olive vinaigrette ($18). In the “Pasture” section includes dishes such as braised beef cheek with Parisian gnocchi, red onion marmalade, and ricotta cheese ($28) and crispy chicken thighs with berbere spice and a watermelon salad ($19).

The Gather bar will have a range of classic and signature cocktails, wine, and craft beer. Their hours will be Tuesday to Thursday, 5pm – 10pm, Friday and Saturday 5pm – 11pm, and Sunday 10am – 10pm.
