Megan Lingerfelt is best known for her paintings of stray pieces of machinery found in colorful voids or tangles of flowering plants. Picking apart broken appliances or obsolete machines she explores the evolving urban landscape through what has been tossed aside as defunct. Using oils, watercolor, or latex house paint she extends the life of these discarded tools by celebrating and memorializing them in dreamy jewel tones on surfaces small and large. Glazing warmth into light touched surfaces, pushing the shadows into dark depths, her compositions place an emphasis on light and contrast.
Painting has played a strong role in much of her life. She received a BFA in her hometown of Asheville, North Carolina in 2010 but has happily called Seattle home for 8 years since.
