Push to keep Crown Hill School building public

The Crown Hill Project is aiming to buy the Crown Hill School to keep the building and surrounding grounds available to the public.  Here’s an early sketch that includes a skate park, community theater and soccer fields:

The group is pushing for passage of a bill in the state legislature that could help fund the purchase. Here’s the House and Senate versions of the bill. They’re asking people to contact their lawmakers to urge them to establish a statewide grants program that would help community organizations purchase surplus school buildings (I wonder if the Phinney Neighborhood Association could make use of that too?) To find out more, email CrownHillProject@gmail.com. If you’re feeling especially kind, tell them you heard it here.

Adds Piogga below: “The Phinney Neighborhood center is already part of the bill(s) and they are encouraging folks to contact their legislators in support.”
