To preview today’s Norwegian Constitution Day Parade, the Seattle Times has published a profile of Ballard’s Leif Erikson Lodge of the Sons of Norway, which is hosting some of the activities. “You can still witness the mythic Ballard” at the lodge, writes Erik Lacitis. “It’s the Ballard of fishermen and tradesmen with Norwegian accents, who reminisce about coming to America for the better life.” The lodge is turning 105 years old this week, and with a membership of 1,602, it’s the largest of its kind in the country.
