Ballard High cheers for the cure

Here’s a heart-warming story for a Friday morning. The Ballard High cheer squad has rallied around their coach Nancy Ellen Elster all year as she battles breast cancer. Tomorrow morning is the Race for the Cure, a big fundraiser for the Komen Foundation, and the coach can’t make it. “I’ve had had three surgeries in less than ten months,” Elster told King5 News. “My final surgery unfortunately had to be scheduled the day before Race for the Cure.” So the cheerleaders are stepping in for her and doing the Race. “She’s not able to be there,” said Anna Swan, cheerleader. “So if we can be there, it’s even bigger.” Video of the story here. Our prayers are with the coach today.
