This weekend is the 25th anniversary of the Tivoli/Viking Days at the Nordic Heritage Museum. We dropped by today and took a few photos.

A few dozen booths in the parking lot in front of the museum feature everything from Swedish dolls to Norwegian sweaters.

The most popular draw is the authentic food. These ladies are putting the finishing touches on Danish æbleskiver. Mmmm. There’s also Swedish meatballs, Norwegian lefse and Finnish smoked salmon sandwiches.

There are also live demonstrations of Viking arts and crafts such as weaving, spinning, flatbread baking and woodcarving. And you can check out the Viking swords, shields, spears and arrows.

Traditional folk music and dancing is scheduled for both days of the festival. Admission is free, and parking is on the street. Tonight (Saturday) is the popular Salmon Barbeque Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. ($12 adults, $8 kids 12 and under). And Sunday morning is the traditional Swedish pancake breakfast from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ($8 adults, $6 kids 12 and under). More info here.
