For nearly 30 years, the Nordic Heritage Museum has called the old Daniel Webster Elementary School on NW 67th Street home. But after the Seattle School District refused to sell the property to the museum, they purchased land on the south side of Market Street between 26th and 28th. “Now that we’ve purchased a piece of property we’ve hired architects and designers and are in the intention to move. The vision is to build and create a new world-class museum right in the heart of Ballard. It’ll be a beautiful location and we wanted to make sure the architecture of the museum would be an embodiment of the Nordic American experience,” Eric Nelson, executive director of the museum told the Ballard News Tribune. The school district anticipates the museum will stay at their current location for 5-7 more years.
